Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation installs Georgia Cubes in OK lakes

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation says crews have completed installing Georgia Cubes in areas of Grand Lake.

The cubes were installed in Grand Lake by the Northeast Region Fisheries crew and were built by the Union Sportsmen's Alliance during the Major League Fishing Redcrest Expo, held earlier this year in Tulsa.

Georgia Cubes are designed to attract and retain fish, which can benefit both the fish and the anglers. The interwoven plastic piping between the PVC cube provides a sanctuary for smaller fish and a place for algae to thrive, which can attract larger fish to the cube.

Major League Fishing donated 93 Georgia Cubes in total to ODWC, and the cubes were split up between three lakes with 24 cubes going to Eufala Lake, 6 to Bixhoma Lake, and 63 to Grand Lake.

MossBack Fish Habitat also donated thousands worth of Mossback structures to ODWC during the Redcrest Expo, and those will begin to be installed in Grand Lake soon.
