You are invited to our upcoming Zoom webinar hosted by American Rivers, Southeast Aquatic Resources Partnership, and the National Fish Habitat Partnership | U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

National Aquatic Barrier Inventory and Prioritization Tool

Presented by: Kat Hoenke, Southeast Aquatic Resources Partnership (SARP)

Supporting speakers from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and American Rivers

May 25, 2023

1:30 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Over the past ten years, SARP, together with partners from multiple agencies and organizations with funding from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and other sources, have been building a compilation inventory of barriers (dams and assessed road stream crossings) to aquatic organisms across the southeastern United States. By 2025, this inventory, as well as the Aquatic Barrier Prioritization Tool, will be fully expanded to provide coverage throughout the United States. Through this tool, we empower partners with:

  • information on documented barriers to help you understand the degree of aquatic habitat fragmentation from stream barriers across the landscape; and
  • standardized methods to identify and prioritize high-priority barriers for removal.

Attendees will learn more about how the inventory is created, where it can be downloaded, and receive a tutorial on how to use the prioritization tool.
